Artist's Description

The Bartle Convention Center in Kansas City, Missouri is supported by cables attached to four gigantic pylons. On top of these pylons is an art installation by R.M. Fischer, part of Kansas City's "One Percent for Art" program that allocates money from public contruction projects to support the arts in all its forms. The sculptures have been a topic of conversation in Kansas City since they were installed in 1994. Many locals refer to them as the "hair curlers". Love them or hate them, they are a durable symbol of Kansas City.
